What this is

Tallyio is a personal household budgeting service. Once you've opted in, you can text expenses to your dedicated Tallyio phone number and we'll log them against your monthly budget. We'll also send you transactional confirmations and automated budget alerts. All messages are 1:1 and tied to actions you've taken in your own account — we never send promotional or marketing messages.

How you opt in

SMS is an optional, double-confirmed feature of your Tallyio account:

1. On the sign-up form at tallyio.com/register, you may optionally check an SMS consent box. The box is unchecked by default and is not required to create an account. The consent language reads:

   "I agree to receive SMS from Tallyio at the number above for expense confirmations and budget alerts. Message frequency varies based on usage, typically a few messages per week. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out, HELP for help. Consent is optional and not a condition of using Tallyio. See SMS Terms and Privacy Policy."

   The checkbox links directly to this page and to our Privacy Policy.
2. If you check the box, we text the phone number you provided with this one-time confirmation message:

   "Tallyio: Reply YES to receive SMS expense confirmations & budget alerts (a few msgs/week). Msg & data rates may apply. Reply STOP to cancel, HELP for help. Terms: tallyio.com/sms-terms"

   We do not send any further messages until you reply YES. When you reply YES, we record a timestamped consent record on your account. If you don't check the box, no SMS is sent at all — you can enable SMS later from your account settings.

Sample messages you'll receive

Confirmation of a logged expense:

✅ $12.50 logged to Dining

80% category warning (sent at most once per category per month):

Heads up! You've used 80% of your Groceries budget this month.

Over-budget warning (sent at most once per category per month):

You've gone over your Groceries budget by $12.50 this month.

Message frequency

Frequency varies by your usage. Each expense you text us triggers a single confirmation reply. Budget alerts are sent at most twice per category per month (once at 80%, once when you exceed the limit). Most users receive a few messages per week.

How to opt out

Reply STOP to any Tallyio message at any time. We'll immediately stop sending you messages and revoke your SMS consent on your account. You can also turn SMS off from your account settings.

Rates

Standard message and data rates may apply, depending on your carrier plan. Tallyio does not charge you for receiving or sending text messages.

Privacy

Your phone number, the original text of your messages, and the parsed expense details are stored to power the service and for debugging. We never share or sell your data. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
